About Us

“We wanted to keep our focus on the earth and really hear the earth speaking.

We had heard enough to know that she has something to say that was very important to human beings everywhere.

We were feeling from the earth that we had been dependent on her for so long, without knowing or appreciating her, and now it was time for us to take care of her.”

Sedonia Cahill & Joshua Halpern, The Ceremonial Circle, Mandala, Harper Collins, p.221

The SACRED GROVE SOUTH WEST, born on the spring equinox and full moon of March 2008 is a group of druids, pagans and hedgewitches who know and have worked with each other often for many years. We cover the Devon and Cornwall area presently and aiming to link up and extend with alliances and networking across the UK with similar Groves and Orders.

We aim to be a point of information regarding the protection of our Mother Earth and her creatures, woods, rivers, sea or moor, stones, tree or any other habitat.

Also identifying local needs such as trees which need protection, natural areas which need litter picking, beaches which need monitoring for pollution, dolphins and other creatures in need.

Many people see their natural world at risk around them but are not used to actually protesting on the ground, setting up camps or challenging local authorities, developers, authorities etc. We have vast experience in non-violent action, challenging legally and for those who do not wish to get physically involved, there is a vital role in organising email and letter writing, posters and leaflet distribution and generally spreading the word that we are here to support, advise and assist with any projects which fall within our remit . There is a Sacred Grove South West poster which you can print in order to spread the word and put up in local libraries, alternative outlets and take to moots, meetings etc.

We can offer expertise and experience in legal planning and environmental law and social policy regarding road, commercial and housing developments and Human Rights and the laws which are supposed to protect our local beautiful areas, wildlife etc, and even Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Sites of Special Scientific Interest have been vandalised and desecrated, so we need to keep alert .

We also have good media connections in the South West and many are very much in tune with our ethos.

Andraste has a petition on the 10 Downing Street website to protect ancient monuments and enforce the Scheduled Ancient Monuments Act, especially for those which are in private ownership. To sign this petition please find the link on

Blessings and wishing you the Peace and Love of the Grove
